Lightning Roulette is Evolution’s live roulette with a multiplier layer on top. It was released in 2018 and streamed from a dark art-deco studio with a live host and an automated wheel. The roulette underneath is ordinary European roulette — one zero, thirty-seven pockets, the usual bets — and the addition is that after betting closes, a handful of numbers are struck by lightning and given a multiplier for that round. The format worked well enough that Evolution built a whole family of Lightning games around the same idea.

How It Plays
The wheel is a single-zero European wheel with thirty-seven pockets: numbers 1 to 36 in red and black, plus a green zero. The wheel is automated and the ball is launched mechanically, so the host announces the round rather than spinning it by hand. The betting grid on screen is the standard layout, with a racetrack available as a second way of placing the same bets.
Every normal roulette bet is available. Inside bets pay 17:1 on a split, 11:1 on a street, 8:1 on a corner and 5:1 on a line; outside bets pay 2:1 on dozens and columns and 1:1 on red or black, odd or even, high or low. The one figure that differs from a standard table is the straight up bet, which pays 29:1 here instead of 35:1 — that reduction is what funds the multipliers. Table limits and chip values vary between casinos and between tables, so the range for a round is the one shown at the table itself.
Symbols
There is nothing to read here the way a slot has symbols — the game shows a real wheel, a betting grid and a tray of chips. Numbers are red or black in the usual pattern, the zero is green, and the racetrack repeats them in wheel order so that neighbour bets and the standard French sections can be placed in one click.
The one piece of decoration that matters is the lightning itself. When betting closes the studio darkens and one to five numbers are struck; each struck number lights up on the grid with its multiplier printed beside it, so you can see before the ball drops which numbers are carrying what.
Bonus Feature
The Lucky Numbers draw is the whole feature. Once the betting window closes and before the ball settles, the game draws between one and five numbers at random and assigns each of them a multiplier of 50x, 100x, 200x, 300x, 400x or 500x. Which numbers are drawn and which multipliers they get is decided at random, independently of where anyone has bet.
If the ball lands on a struck number and you had a straight up bet on it, that bet is paid at the multiplier instead of at 29:1. The largest single result is therefore 500 times the straight up stake. If your number was not struck, it pays the standard 29:1.
The multipliers apply to straight up bets only. A split, corner, dozen, column or red-black bet that happens to cover a struck number is still paid at its normal odds — covering a Lucky Number as part of a wider bet gains nothing. That is worth understanding before deciding how to spread a stake, because the multipliers sit on exactly the bet type whose base payout was cut.
Controls
Bets are placed by picking a chip value from the tray and clicking positions on the grid or on the racetrack; clicking the same spot again adds another chip, and Undo removes the last one placed. Repeat puts down the same bets as the previous round and Double doubles what is currently on the table. Favourite bets can be saved and recalled, and a statistics panel shows recent results with hot and cold numbers. There is no autoplay of the kind a slot has — every round has to be staked, even if Repeat makes that one click.
The betting window is timed. A countdown runs on screen at the start of each round, on the order of twenty seconds, and when it reaches zero the table locks and nothing can be added, removed or undone. Chips placed too late are returned rather than played. That timer is the main practical difference from a slot: the round runs on the table’s schedule rather than yours, so a complicated layout of chips has to be built quickly or built from a saved favourite.

Pros and Cons
Lightning Roulette suits someone who already plays roulette and mainly bets straight up. The trade is stated plainly by the game: the single-number payout drops from 35:1 to 29:1, and in exchange a few numbers each round can pay far more than a normal table would. If you bet red and black, or dozens, the multipliers never reach you and you are simply playing European roulette on the usual odds — there is little reason to pick this table for that.
It is a poor fit if you want to control the pace. Rounds run on a timer with a live host, there is no pausing to think, and live tables have no demo mode to practise in. It is also worth being clear that the Lucky Numbers are drawn fresh every round with no memory: a number that has not appeared for an hour is not due, and one that just paid a multiplier is no less likely to be struck again. The statistics panel is a record, not a forecast.
